Devanagri software
to be developed

DEHRISARAI, JAN13. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr Dignijay Singh, has said that Devanagri software would be developed In Madhaya Pradesh to make it an inportant information techonology (IT) center of northern India.
  "we aim to link all the tehsils fo the state with computers by the year-end", Mr. Singh told reporters yesterday, langurating a cybercafe here in Dhar dist\rict.
Stating that Internet had brought a revolution in the information sectore, he said the state government ahd planned to make a pragmatic use of the knowledge based services with an effective participation of the public sector.
  Observing that a major chunk of software was being developed in English, he said the state government

had embarded on mooting an ex\tensive programine to develop Hindi software.
 "This would enable the state to become an important IT center of northeren India".
Maintaining that development of software parks would entail enormous benefit to the Industry essentuial to disseminate the benefit of this technology to the people.
 Referring to the Gyandoot scheme beign standrted in Dhar District, he said it was essential to disseminate the benefit of this technology to the people.  Underlining the plans under way to bolster information technology in

the state, he said vacant land of government schools and colleges would be given to private parties to provide the necessary infrastructure for setting up computer study centers.
  The State Government was also consulting NIIT to develop private universities in the field of information technology, he said, adding that the Bhoj Open University had also arrived at an understanding with internationally-acclaimed IBM for transmitting computer education through the long-distance education system.
  Saying that the programmes of information technology should be community-based, he said all the tehsils of the state now linked with internet and efforts would be made to percolate maximum benefits through minimum financial resources -UNI
